CAN bus TPMS integration — 11-bit frames, or 29-bit J1939-format message sets
On a vehicle or a machine the receiver is usually just another node on a bus that already exists. The integration work is not the wiring — it is agreeing the frame layout once, in writing, before anything is built.
What the receiver publishes
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Physical / link layer | CAN 2.0B, default 250 kbps, software-adjustable |
| Frame format | 11-bit standard or 29-bit extended — fixed at the factory per unit |
| Data cycle | 500 ms on the output side |
| Wheel positions | up to 256 per receiver |
| Handover | message map, plus a DBC where the project needs one |
| Interface exclusivity | one interface per unit — a CAN receiver is not also an RS485 receiver |
J1939: what we can and cannot say
We work in 29-bit extended frames, and we have deployed J1939-format message sets in construction machinery integrations with major OEMs. What that means practically: we know how to lay a message set out in that style and align it to your parameter set or your DBC.
What it does not mean: we do not claim J1939 certification or full conformance, because we do not hold a conformance certificate for it. If a programme requires a certified stack, say so early and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.
Who is the master
On CAN the receiver is a publisher, not a bus master. If the interface is Modbus RTU instead, the receiver is a slave only — your PLC or controller polls it. Either way the control logic stays in your controller, which is the point: we supply tyre data, you keep the vehicle behaviour.
What we need to answer in writing
- Bitrate on the existing segment, and whether 11-bit or 29-bit is in use.
- Your controller or gateway, and whether you want to parse the frame directly or receive it through a gateway.
- Wheel count, and where the data must end up (controller, display, platform).
With those three we reply with the configuration, the message map and the delivery list — before anything is ordered.
